# Byte

> Byte is a personal, text-native AI agent. It understands the person using it, helps act across the context and services they choose, and is building a permissioned agentic network that bridges a person, their world and their people with opportunities, culture, interests, places and more.

The personal agent is the core of Byte. The network is an additional layer that makes the personal agent more useful and more distinctive, not a replacement for it.

Byte is building the personal AI network. This is Byte's product direction, not a claim that every network capability is generally available today.
